MAT 838 - PICMG™ Pentium® Pro SBC including Temperature Monitoring S/W Watchdog and Low Power BIOS

Designed with a Pentium Pro Processor, the MAT838 provides an ideal solution for high performance systems using PICMG or ISA passive backplanes.

This PC compatible single board computer offers the following features and options:

· On board safety provided by two watchdogs and a thermometer for automatic protection against the perils of overheating, under-voltage and software crashes
· Power management software within BIOS provides custom regulation of power usage
· PCI built in graphics accelerator options
· USB option provides two header connectors for devices on the universal serial bus.
· Pentium Pro processor running at 200MHz
· Fast page, EDO or burst EDO memory up to 512 MB
· PCI EIDE controller supporting up to 4 hard disk or CD ROM driver
· Built in level 1 cache memory at a total of 16KB with further secondary cache memory available at 256KB, 512KB or 1MB

This single board computer fits in any standard PICMG passive backplane for use with both PCI and ISA adapters; suitable backplanes are also available from Microbus. Users of the MAT840 Pentium processor card can easily upgrade to this Pentium Pro card.

Safety features mean that you can program the software watchdog to monitor your running software and either signal or reset the system if a crash occurs. In addition, the voltage watchdog resets the system if the 5V supply goes below acceptable levels. The built in thermometer located under the processor reports temperature increases above a programmable level.

Designed for high performance systems, the Pentium Pro processor on the MAT838 includes additional secondary cache of up to 1MB to enhance overall performance. The level 1 cache memory allows up to 8KB for data and up to 8KB for instructions.

The on-board video option boosts performance in Windows and other interfaces using the Cirrus Logic 5546 accelerator, with 1MB or 2 MB of video memory. Using the PCI bus, the EIDE controller supports up to four hard disk or CD-ROM drives.

Standard features include floppy controller, two serial ports, a parallel port, ports for a keyboard and PS/2 mouse, PCI EIDE controller and PCI graphics options. The BIOS is stored in flash memory.

The MAT838 card is CE marked having met electromagnetic compatibility requirements when tested in a typical system.

All Microbus cards are Millennium Compliant.

OEM features of Microbus SBC's include software readable serial numbers, BIOS customization, non-volatile back-up of the CMOS setup information, fused power outputs, on-board headers and true OEM technical support. Microbus is BS EN ISO 9001 registered for design and manufacture.
